Visit Amboise, the city of Kings

Situated in the Loire Valley, Amboise owes its reputation to its castle. Amboise is a royal town and was one of the most sought-after cities for the Kings of France. Charles VIII lived in the castle in the 15th century.

The legacy of Leonardo da Vinci

The town also has an important heritage linked to Leonardo da Vinci. Just outside the town is the Château du Clos Lucé, which was his residence until his death in 1519. It now houses a museum in his memory, where you can see some of his creations and models.

Natural city

Amboise is also a pleasant town to visit on foot. There are many pleasant walks along the river. The banks of the Loire and, a little further afield, the banks of the Cher are well worth a visit. For nature lovers, the Amboise forest and vineyards are also a must.
